Homelessness

One of the most relevant issues in our country in the past up to this day is poverty. Poverty has caused us a lot of social issues, and one of this is homelessness of people. Well, aside from poverty, what are the other causes of homelessness? How does this affect our society?

Homelessness in our country, Philippines, can be seen everywhere. People who suffer from homelessness sleep in the side of the street, while some stay or live in a vacant lot. Why do these people suffer from homelessness? It was said that poverty is one of the causes, and this includes lack of money, unemployment, and even unstable jobs. Or maybe, some of them lost their homes because of personal problems, or even natural disasters.

It is sad to think these people need to be in this situation, and most of them are still children who are forced to look for work in order to gain money for their daily living. Every day is uncertain for these people. The least we can do for them is to help them and never discriminate them. They have already gone through a lot so let’s not be a burden to them anymore. They need us. We should be help them and care for them unconditionally especially when we have the means to do so.

We are currently facing a pandemic and this makes their situation worse. They do not have permanent homes that’s why there is really a big possibility that they can get the virus anytime. Let’s help them with the best of our abilities. We should also be mindful of our actions. Let’s be kind to them all the time and do not be an addition to their problem anymore. I just hope that our government can do something about homeless people in our country, or at least have a plan for them. Kindness and respect cost nothing. We should be always ready to lend our hands to those who are in need of our help without hesitations and without asking anything in return.
